Dr. Ash is co-inventor of the Allient® Sorbent Hemodialysis System and co-founder of Renal Solutions. He serves as Chairman of the Board of HemoCleanse, Inc. and Ash Access Technology, Inc. Dr. Ash is also Director of the Dialysis Center for Greater Lafayette and a practicing nephrologist at Arnett Clinic in Lafayette, Indiana. He has been awarded over 30 patents for various dialysis devices and therapeutic instruments, has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles, and is author of 12 textbook chapters regarding hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.
Dr. Diaz-Buxo is Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President, Renal Therapies Group, Fresenius Medical Care North America. He is also Senior Advisor for Global Home Therapies, Fresenius Medical Care. He is known for his development of continuous cyclic peritoneal dialysis and various PD cyclers, his development of external occlusion for PD disconnect systems, and early identification of acute renal failure from contrast material injection. David Humes, MD is an international authority in the areas of acute renal failure, stem cell biology, and tissue engineering. He is President of Innovative BioTherapies, Inc. and a professor of internal medicine at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Dr Humes is the scientific founder of Nephrion and RenalMed Biologic, Inc. He is also a member of the editorial boards of five scientific journals, has published approximately 200 scientific papers, and edited numerous textbooks. Dr. Ing has previously worked as a staff physician in the Department of Medicine at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Hines, IL. He has provided renal care to veterans for more than 25 years and has organized educational seminars for patients and healthcare professionals alike. He has been on the editorial boards for the International Journal of Artificial Organs, Artificial Organs, Transactions of the American Society for Artificial Internal Organs, Kidney, Journal of American Paraplegia Society, Hemodialysis International and Peritoneal Dialysis International. Dr. Ing has authored more than 250 publications in the area of dialysis with emphasis on isolated ultrafiltration, complications of dialysis, dialysate composition and peritoneal dialysis. He is also co-editor of the Handbook of Dialysis which is widely used around the world. He was presented the National Torchbearer Award by the American Kidney Fund in 2005. The American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP) recently presented the Medal of Excellence Award to Dr. Ing.
Robert S. Lockridge Jr., MD is a highly acclaimed innovator in the effort to provide more frequent, long-duration dialysis in the United States. Dr. Lockridge is Medical Director of UVA-Lynchburg Dialysis Facility and a partner of Lynchburg Nephrology Physicians in Lynchburg, VA, widely recognized as one of the leading and most successful nocturnal home hemodialysis programs, founded in 1997. Dr. Lockridge is a leader in advocacy initiatives, having played an instrumental role in the introduction and lobbying for legislation supporting enhanced home dialysis reimbursement. He is active in the National Institutes of Health (NIH) study on long-duration home hemodialysis. He also serves as a Clinical Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Virginia School Health System.
Amit Sharma, MD, FACP, FASN, has extensive experience conducting primary research and as a Principal Investigator for numerous clinical trials in the field of nephrology and hypertension. He is Director of Clinical Research at Boise Kidney and Hypertension Institute in Meridian, Idaho and served as Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego, as well as Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. From 2001- 2005, he was the Director of the Dialysis Unit and of the Chronic Kidney Disease Clinic at the Naval Medical Center, San Diego. Dr. Sharma received his medical degree from Louisiana State University Medical Center-New Orleans. He also serves as a relevance reviewer for the American Board of Internal Medicine for Nephrology, is on the editorial board of Cardiology Reviews, and serves on national committees for ASN and NKF.
